Did you know that Maytown was the oldest and most important town in Northwest Lancaster County for its first decades? Or that it was home to possibly the first steam-driven loom in the US, which made coverlets before the Civil War? Hear the amazing story of native son, Simon Cameron, perhaps the most powerful man in Pennsylvania and the nation at one time, and learn about eccentric “Hen” Flick and Ben Hen Markley. For a small town, Maytown has a BIG history! The Rev. Robert M. Lescallette will share stories from that rich history.
Reverand Lescallette spent 40 years of his life living in Maytown, serving as pastor of St. John’s Lutheran Church in the historic town, and immersing himself in town history. He also co-founded the Maytown Historical Society and wrote the published 250th anniversary history of Maytown. He is a self-described “Author, Pastor, Historian and Maytowner”.
