Libraries are about so many different things that they can be difficult to define. For
generations, libraries have been about books and reading, and your neighborhood library
continues that tradition.
Libraries offer a place to go that is both social and private. Milanof-Schock Library is
proud to call itself the “community’s living room.” Few places in our lives offer what your
library does; a place where you don’t need to buy anything, you don’t need to feel hurried, a
place where you can spend an hour or an afternoon surrounded by great company. “When in
doubt, go to the library.” J.K. Rowling, the author of the Harry Potter series, said that, and it is
not surprising that the author of books for young adults thinks highly of the library.
