Holiday Spirit in Action: Students Gift 1,000 Books to the Library!

Kim Johns (right) and Grace Templin (left), 7th grade English teachers at Donegal Junior High, brought some extra holiday spirit to their classrooms this year. After reading A Christmas Carol with their students—and exploring everything from classic literary elements to Scrooge’s journey from apathy to empathy—they decided to channel that newfound generosity into something real. Their classes teamed up to collect new or gently-read books to donate to our Library, and they’re thrilled to share that they gathered around 1,000 items!

These books will be put to good use in all sorts of ways. Like-new titles may become reading prizes, some will refresh well-loved copies on our shelves, and the rest will help support us through the Friends Annual Book Sale (June 18–20) or be sold in our Lobby.

Thank you for spreading kindness and supporting your local public library—you make a difference!
