Our New Youth Services Team

So, now that Miss Jan has retired, “who will be doing the family/children’s programs?” you ask? We have a very special Youth Services team! Pictured left to right is Laura, Rachel, Katelyn, and Alyssa.

Laura is a retired elementary school teacher from the Hempfield School District. She’s been a Library volunteer for many years, a member of the Library’s Friends Group, and has been working with Jan over the summer to get the lay of the land. She will be responsible for outreach, attending open houses in the school district, Mount Joy’s Winterfest, and other events.

Rachel is currently a Library Circ Desk Assistant and Passport Agent. She will now be responsible for ordering new books for children and teens!
Katelyn is also a current Library Circ Desk Assistant and Passport Agent, but she is in the midst of earning her degree in Early Education from Western Governors University. Katelyn has already done a few programs and will be bringing a monthly evening family craft night to the schedule.

Alyssa is currently getting her Masters in Library Science from Pennsylvania Western University and will be splitting her time between the Circ Desk and children’s programs. In addition to leading a variety of story times, Alyssa will offer a monthly themed trivia night for families!

Alyssa and Katelyn are excited to create some new programs, will keep some of the oldies but goodies, and will have to remove a few as well. We are unsure what Homeschool options will be offered in the fall (if at all), but we’ll keep you posted.

Let’s welcome the new team and offer encouragement, patience, and grace during this staff transition period.
