After 31 years of dedicated service, the Library said a heartfelt farewell to one of its most treasured team members, Susan, as she welcomes her next chapter – retirement!
Susan’s journey with the Library began when it was still located on Main Street in Mount Joy, and over the past three decades she has become an essential part of our story. Through seven different library directors, countless changes and challenges, and tremendous growth, Susan has been a steady, reliable presence whose knowledge, dedication, and good humor helped keep the Library running day after day.
Throughout her career, Susan has worn many hats. She has processed hundreds of passports, worked closely with volunteers, welcomed generations of patrons, and served as a trusted resource for staff members old and new. During the uncertainty of the pandemic, Susan helped ensure that library services continued for our community, demonstrating the flexibility and commitment that have always defined her work.
Having seen employees come and go over the years, Susan has become the keeper of countless library stories and institutional knowledge. If there was ever a question about how something worked, where something was, or why a process existed, chances are Susan knew the answer. Simply put, Susan is one of the reasons the Library has continued to thrive for more than three decades.
While we will miss her expertise and friendly presence, we are grateful for the lasting impact she has made on our Library, our staff, and our community. Please join us in congratulating Susan on her retirement and thanking her for 31 remarkable years of service.
