On Feb 2, 2026, the United States Department of State notified “Milanof-Schock Library is no longer authorized to operate as a passport acceptance facility and must cease accepting passport applications on behalf of the U.S. Department of State, effective February 13, 2026.”
MSL will continue scheduling and processing passports until Thursday, Feb 12th. Appointments are required. Please call us 717-653-1510.
Representatives John Joyce and Lloyd Smucker, together with others, have put forward a Bill to allow public libraries to continue processing passports [last minute addition – legislation was proposed Jan 29th in the US Senate by Senator Fetterman and Senator McCormick too]. It has a long road ahead of it before the issue is fully resolved, but the introduction of this Bill is a big step in the right direction. Please feel free to contact these representatives to thank them for supporting libraries and the important part they have in processing passports: Reach out to Representative Smucker [717-393-0667], US Senator Fetterman [717-782-3951], and Senator McCormick [717-231-7540]
