Eclipse Viewing Party at the Milanof-Schock Library

We are so pleased with our wonderful community, and we wanted to share our joy with you!

So many people visited the Library to experience the Eclipse together!! We had only 60 glasses to hand out, but participants shared with one another, making sure that everyone who attended our event had the opportunity to view this amazing phenomenon. Cars were parked on side streets around the Library, people brought blankets and chairs, gathering together as one community. We were unable to arrive at an official number, but we counted at least 280 – 300 people of all ages socializing and having fun. What a great experience!

Inside the Library, Miss Jan had her Art in the Park program that was on the calendar before Barbara Basile, the Library’s Director, planned the Viewing Party. Miss Jan had 12 kids pre-registered but welcomed anyone who came inside to participate in her program, ending up with 60 community members! Basile and her husband, Dave, had made some fun old-fashioned cereal box viewers for people to use, and refreshing freeze pops were provided for a cool relief from the hot day. People arrived on the lawn hours before the event and lingered well after its completion. Thank you to everyone who attended!
