Milanof-Schock Library Offers Story Time Outreach

Beginning January, 2019, Jan Betty (a.k.a. Miss Jan), Director of Children and Youth at Milanof-Schock Library, will be offering monthly story times at two off-site public locations within the Library’s service area as a way to reach out to the surrounding communities and promote the joy of reading and early literacy.

On Monday, January 7 at 10:30, Miss Jan will offer Family Story Time at the East Donegal Township Municipal Building located at 190 Rock Point Road, Marietta. Story Time will be held there every first Monday of the month thereafter. She will also offer Family Story Time at the old First National Bank located at 100 W. Market Street in Marietta on Monday, January 21 at 10:30 and every third Monday of the month thereafter. All are welcome to attend either or both of these programs – as well as those held at Milanof-Schock Library – to enjoy stories, songs, and a craft based on a theme of the week. At this point, registration is not required.

For the last two years, Miss Jan has been sharing her gift of storytelling with the kindergarten classes of the Donegal School District. Once a month during the school year, Miss Jan packs up her special book-box on wheels and travels down the road to Donegal Primary School. She reads a picture book to the students and leaves them with a special bookmark to color and take home.
